This is the real New Year's post (whatever that means)!

Tuesday evening. Why must the busy time at work conflict with such a fun time of year? TCB and I watched the end of the Fiesta Bowl last night (woohoo for the Boise State Broncos - huzzah for the little guy!) and I wanted nothing more than to grab a kitten and fall asleep. Today would have been perfect for laundry and laziness and instead I've spent a joyful day at work, sorting through crises and potential crises, and playing Let's Make a Deal with product release dates (not as much fun as it sounds). I am fairly compensated for what I do and I like most of the people I work with (most of the time)...days like today make me tired mentally, though. Anyway.

I don't think I'm going to do Resolutions. Not that there aren't plenty of things that I need to work on, it's more that I'm already doing my best to work on them anyway so why add some artificial impetus?

I do, however, want to take a moment to celebrate 2006. Yes, I've still got plenty of work to do on myself, it's just that I made some really good progress last year and it feels good to move into 2007 with a positive feeling about life in general.

* I will celebrate my 40th birthday in 2007 and I won't pretend that's not giving me a lot of panic when I think about it (so I'm trying not to), but, in the end, it's still better than not celebrating it, right?

* TCB will move to Japan for several years in 2007 and I don't know what that means for us, and that's still OK

* Alcott will start his Junior year in high school in 2007. This one terrifies me because that means driving cars, playing Varsity quarterback, and starting to visit colleges. (Actually, there's just one to visit because the boy already knows where he wants to go: the Ohio State University. If you leave near Columbus and wouldn't mind a couple of visitors in spring of 2008, shoot me a message!)

The world is opening up so many wonderful possibilities for me that it's hard not to want to peek ahead and see what happens. Unlike when I read Gone With the Wind, however, I'm going to wait and let it unfold in due time. It's all about the journey.

You have a great outlook! Anything that comes up, you can deal with it. Maybe that might even mean a transfer or at least some visits to Japan, who knows?!
All the best in the new Year!

(I need to do a post over at The Lighter Side and tell everyone what awful stuff I ate at Christmas so anyone who was as bad as I was won't feel alone!! LOL!)
It sounds like you are going to have a busy and eventful year.

40 isn't so bad ... it happened to me 4.5 years ago.
