NaBloPoMo, Day 22 - By request

Wednesday noon. I love the day before Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving Day, too - it's my favorite holiday. The day before is special here at VLSCI because everyone except Product Development is gone and so we don't have a lot of meetings, there is no threat of Product Management drive-bys, and parking is a dream. (It really doesn't take much to make me happy.) I brought in the famous Chile Relleno Casserole for the potluck and, as usual, it's a huge hit. Yum. God, I am so blessed, but I will save that topic for tomorrow.

For today, by request from my beloved Marla, I give you my Top Five Names for Girls (in no particular order):

1. Maud
2. Louise
3. Margaret/Maggie
4. Katharine/Kate
5. Madeleine/Maddie

These are the names I'd consider for my own children, were I to have any. You'll note that I'm a little old-fashioned when it comes to names. I'm old fashioned in many, many ways, so this shouldn't surprise you. As a matter of fact, one of the things I love about Alcott and his siblings is how wonderful their names are. (Their parents might have had some deficiencies in other areas, but they came up with great names!)

For those in the United States (or ex-pats that still celebrate), please have a lovely, healthy, bountiful Thanksgiving and don't forget to remember the blessings in your life because that's what Thanksgiving is about.

I love those names! I'm old-fashioned in my naming conventions too. I like the names from my grandmothers' generation: they were Lillian and Dorothea. A good long name like that gives you a distinguished adult name but lots of opps for nicknames too. I suppose we should hear your boys names too.

p.s. I was thinking EXACTLY of you when I wrote about the freaky Californians. Duh.
Are you my mother? LOL, but (allowing for spelling differences) you included three of the four girl names in my family.
