Slinking back in with an update (finally)

Wednesday morning. So, can you guess how things with Operation Baby Steps have been going since my last post? Uh huh, you've got it! I've been eating whatever I want and haven't exercised at all. (You know, I think the last time I exercised was back in June - how scary is that??? I used to be totally dedicated to my 60-minutes-at-a-time exercise routine!)

For the eating, I'm putting it down to the fact that my healthy, prepared meals just don't look as good as something from the cafeteria (how scary is that?) for lunch or something fast food for dinner. I don't know what to do about this problem because the meals are what they are. Actually, I just went and checked out their Healthy Kids' Meals because I was thinking they'd probably be more appealing (because kids won't eat what they don't like or what looks "funny"). Turns out they do have a lot more "fun" meals on the kids' menu, so I've ordered lunches and dinners from that menu. (I never have a problem with the grown-up breakfasts - they're yummy!) We shall see how this goes.

For the activity, I'm thinking that I need to try doing it first thing in the morning. I don't know, though, this needs more thought.

So, that's where I am right now. *Sigh*

Hang in there, that's why you're doing this in baby steps. Figuring out what works and what doesn't as you go along. You'll find your groove again I just know it!

Hope the kids' meals at least seem more intriguing. I hate when I have healthy food at home but I would opt for fast food. Ugh. As far as the exercise, what about breaking it into 2-3 10 minute sessions? That helps me get it in every day...

I totally hear you on the appeal of the cafeteria line over the healthy food that I brought from home. That's been me for the last two weeks... It's a struggle, but we are going to get our mojo back! I promise.

I would highly recommend the early morning workouts, whatever form that takes for you. It's a great way to start your day and sets you up for success the rest of the day. Plus, you won't be able to talk yourself out of going at the end of the day as the workout will already be done. And as far as the baby steps are concerned, there is no limit to the number of "do-overs" you can take.

I am sorry that your new week of 'doing it all the way' did not go as anticipated; boy, I've had like 20 of those weeks ;).

But I have to say you are my new favorite person of the week for posting this link! I had no idea this place existed, so thanks!

I would love to work out in the morning but it is just so....eh, yuck. Plus I get a better work out later at night when I have more energy...but they (whoever THEY are) say it is better to work out in the morning. Shoot, whenever someone will actually do it seems better to this hag ;).

This week I've called "back to basics" in the same vein as your baby steps. I'm finding it really hard too, but I think mainly because once you start bad habits ie: eating in the cafeteria, eating junk food or take out, it is really hard to break it. Maybe you should consider something other than those meals. Maybe Jenny Craig if you want prepared food? I had a look at the website and the food does look good.

That's a good idea trying the kids' meals. Maybe you should try Blotkisn for a week - nothing like a diet of solid meat to make you crave salads and vegetables!

If you could get yourself addicted to running, like me, all your problems would be solved, methinks ;)

I do so admire your honesty, though, Denise. And the fact that you keep on trying.

Since you know me and know I am not a troll :)

That was a great EXCUSE about your normal every day food not looking as appealing as cafeteria food. Yep, excuse - you heard me babe :)

I really wish I was nearer to you, cause I would thwap ya over the head, nah - just kidding :)

There ARE healthy choices at a cafeteria - at least here in Canada the cafeterias also supply fruit, jello, salads, sammiches.

Denise, I know you will do it when you are ready :)
