Brutally honest

Monday night. So, class went well. I somehow managed to bang out about seven pages in an hour and a half as well as throwing together a 3-5 minute presentation that I got an A on, too. I have nearly dropped this class at least twice because I didn't feel I could do it and now I've got (as of the last assignments) an A in the class. There's a lesson in there somewhere, but I'm just too tired to get it, I fear.

Anyway, the real purpose of this is to ask if I've scared a bunch of people off with my recent posts or if the new comments just aren't working or if no one's reading me anymore. I know I've been really school and Alcott obsessed lately and not much about being healthy (or not), so perhaps that's it. If anyone has suggestions for topics you'd rather see me write about, I'd love to hear them. Honestly, after I'm done with work and school and Alcott (and Junior League on the weeks that I'm active with that, too), I'm lucky to do much of anything after my workout, but I want to be interesting and engaging, so help a girl out, won't you?

All I need now is romance and there will officially be no more room on my schedule. Honestly, I don't know where I'd fit someone else into my life right now - how sad is that? I guess when (not if) I find the right guy, it will be so magic that it will just work, right? Please, someone, tell me that I'm right, wouldja???

There is always so much more time in the day for so many more things to do. We never realise this till the new things appear and magically, more time appears too. I remember I used to think that there was no time for me in the mornings but to get up, shower and get dressed for work. Now I have managed to add a 30 min work out again. A few months ago I had managed to add a 60 min work out before leaving my house in the morning!

Please don't change the way you are writting about your life and Alcott. It all add up to who you are and I want it all!!!

I'm still reading. I do know what you mean, though. Sometimes when I write about something that sparks ten comments, I'm like, wow!, I gotta keep doing this! Next day, nothing lol. Weeks go by...nothing ;~)

I love hearing about your life, so keep it up :))

I check your blog everyday! I'm glad that there's not too much drama in your life, I think that happens when we settle down. I always wanted to let you know that you inspired me to actually get my butt on a tredmill, yay for me thanks to you.

Keep it up girlie!

We're still here! At least I'm still here. Or something like that. And isn't it funny how we find time to do what we really want to? Keep on doing what you're doing, you're still inspiring me both on the health front and school front.

I check in on you almost daily, but mostly lurk. I'm glad that you don't have as much turmoil going on and that you are finally accepting yourself for how wonderful you are.

I'm still here! Enjoy reading about your life, too. Life is just soooooo busy for all of us...it takes me about an hour just to work down my blogroll!!

Keep the faith gal. ^j^

I'm still here -- sometimes it does take forever for the comments to pop up, though. For some reason, I'm not getting a lot of comments, but my traffic hasn't really decreased. Maybe I'm just not saying anything interesting...

Hey Denise! I, for one, seem to be able to post now, at least from some of my browsers. So, that's good.

I have noticed that sometimes the more serious entries get fewer comments, and I think it's because people don't really know what to say -- it might be a case where they don't feel comfortable giving advice, or all they really have to say is something like, "I know what you mean!" or "I'm right there with you!" and so they don't say anything at all.

In my case, I sometimes don't comment because all I can think of is a situation from my own life (which looks selfish/self-centered) or advice (which I hesitate to give unless it is asked for). Lighter entries are easier to comment on.

Bottom line: don't write in your blog for other people, just write for yourself and trust that people are reading. :)

A couple of times last week I was going to comment but didn't see the link show up. The past few days, I haven't had a lot of time to read or comment on any blogs. In my opinion, the best writing usually happens when you write for yourself. Don't worry about us Denise, we're still here!!

Still with you, Denise! I only made it into the desk chair twice this weekend but I didn't manage to read anybody's blogs. I love your blog. Write about what you want to write about. Everything that happens in our lives effects our weightloss plans, get healthy plans, self improvement plans, etc. It's great to see you having so much going on in your life. It's inspiring me to get out more myself.

The trick is to blog like no one's watching, sister, and write what you want to write, as well. As for the comments, are you really doing this for our amusement, or are you writing for you?

I suppose there's no right answer to that, but whenever I get hung up on stuff like that, that's what I ask myself. Times like that, I have to to let the whole audience thing go, and not rely on my readers for validation.

You're actually my inspiration there -- you're doing such a good job at getting fulfillment from within. Why not extend that to the blogosphere as well?

Anyway, these days I'm seeing the same thing - I get very few comments these days. People are just busy.

Hi Denise, I think there may have been one day on the weekend where blogger was having some problems and I couldn't comment, but everything seems cool now. And I read your site every day, in fact I think I may visit here first on most days because you post the most regularly out of everyone on my blog roll, and I adore you. There is absolutely no need to change the way you write. I love reading about all the things that make up you. You're beautiful inside and out and I am often jealous of how many readers you get.

Congratulations on your A! Well-deserved, I'm sure.

As you can see from all the comments, you certainly have a great group of regular readers. I read you almost everyday, but I often just lurk. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate your words. Keep writing the way you do!

Like you, I've been getting few comments and my site traffic has been rather sluggish. And like you, I wondered if I was doing somehing wrong. So glad to read through this thread and be reassured that "people are just busy". [In other words, it's not that we're hopeless!]

As for your posts, I always find them inspiring, even when they are about mundane stuff. You're a great writer and you're doing great things in your life. Keep it up!

I read you every day, girlie. I think Beattie has it right, about reasons why people don't post. We've talked about this before, I always feel like a dumb-ass just saying things like "Woo-hoo! Way to go!" I mean them, but they look trite. So, you know... "Way to go, Denise! You ROCK!"

Love love love!
